Skies Darken

Our next stop was another Lookout Location.

 While we were driving there, the skies suddenly darkened as a storm blew in, bringing strong winds and rain.

Sudden Winds

The wind showed itself in sand. It was so beautiful.

Arriving At The Lookout Location

We arrived at the Lookout Location, as the storm intensified.

Storm Funnels In

Our tour guide dropped us off at a cliff within the gorge, then started back to the entrance.

He drove into the storm as it funneled into the narrow Lookout Location.

Desert Storm

The wild winds increased as the storm pushed through the gorge.

Michael and I welcomed this added reality from the desert.

Sand whipped, stung our faces, while harshly digging into our eyes, mouth and ears.

We understood why Bedouins wear headscarves for protection from the wind and sand.

Spectacular Storm

Below are photos of the storm as we walked back to the truck.  Even our tour guide took pictures as it was such a spectacular storm.

He told us to get back to the truck. To get inside, not in the back cab, to stay out of the storm.

The pictures don’t reflect how harsh the desert is as it whips you with sand.

Sand that burns, feeling like a thousand little stings on all exposed skin.

Then, just like that, the storm was over.

The dark clouds disappeared and the sun was shining brightly again.
