One positive change I have made in my life is nurturing a spiritual practice.
To spend time each day in prayer, talking to the God of my understanding, then listening with meditation.
I haven’t yet attained the level of discipline where I sit in quiet practice over an extended period of time. I don’t think my hips could take it!
What I am doing now is taking time each morning and before I go to sleep to say AA’s 3rd and 7th Step Prayers.
During my busy work day in a high school, I purposely find pockets of moments to focus on my breath, calm my mind, ask for guidance and strength, then inwardly listen as best as I can.

Accepting I Am An Alcoholic
I cannot drink alcohol.
I am an alcoholic.
Alcohol is poison to me.
Once I take a drink, I have a mental obsession and physical craving for more.
It’s taken me almost 30 years to accept this.
My sobriety date is August 1st, 2023.
Since then, each day has slowly improved as a result of being a part of and working a 12-Step program.
This 12-Step Program is now a daily way of life for me.

Thank you Joe! My goal is to destigmatize alcoholism and the shame associated with the label. Perhaps in some small way my honesty will help others get the help they need. 🌻💛☀️
