I graduated from the 1987 inaugural class of Millwood High School.
Something I learned in high school?
Nothing outstanding except fun memories.
I was interested in physics, but only because a boy named Blake Barkhouse was in the class.
During biology class I dissected a fetal pig with Lisa Winters. We named the specimen Fred.
Drama class was short-lived. Mrs. McCrae was a tough, very serious, scary woman with her grey, wire-like hair pulled back in a tight bun – kinda scary. She didn’t appreciate my playful outlook on life.
My favourite snack was Humpty Dumpty Cheese Sticks and Farmers’ chocolate milk from the cafeteria.
My prom date was Curtis Joyce, but he started dating another girl who I refused give up as my date – because he drove a new Trans Am. He dumped me at the prom to be with his girlfriend.
In my graduation folder was a Certificate of Achievement in Partying – given to all who attended my 18th birthday party.
I was a happy-go-lucky, boy-crazy girl who loved Duran Duran, its bass player John Taylor and didn’t take life too seriously.
