Choose Your Hard

There is so much wisdom in choosing your hard because life is hard.
In August of 2019, as a result of drinking too much alcohol and stress eating, I weighed almost 170lbs.
Typically, my weight hovers around 140lbs.
I was shocked at myself.
This was my hard – having gained so much weight.
December, 2019 I started running – this was my new hard.
February, 2020 I stopped drinking alcohol – this was my new hard.
August, 2020 I reduced processed foods and refined sugars from my diet – this was my new hard.
The result of these hards: today, February 8th, 2021, my weight is 141lbs.
Running – This Was Hard
My running started every morning before work, on an elliptical.
I managed 7 minutes.
7 minutes quickly grew to 10 minutes, 10 grew to 15, etc.
The elliptical broke, so in the middle of winter, I started running outside.
Next was preparing for a half-marathon.
COVID and life’s unexpected twists and turns postponed my half-marathon goal.
But, I’m still working towards this goal.
Living Alcohol Free – This Was Hard
I stopped drinking alcohol, February17th, 2020.
It hasn’t always been easy, but going through the hard to stay alcohol free is worth it.

Changing My Diet – This Was Hard
As much as possible, I decided to remove refined sugars from my diet.
I also cut back on processed foods like chips, crackers, and pastries when running wasn’t enough to lower my weight.
This was hard as it required a lot of meal planning, but the rewards are great.
My weight started to drop and I feel so much better both physically and emotionally.
Currently, my husband and I are eliminating meat from our diet. We eat plant based proteins, eggs and fish.
This is hard.
Becoming The Best Version Of Me
Just for today, I will continue to choose the hard that guides me to be the best version of myself.

You truly are a unique individual! As your mother I am so very proud of the woman you are. To understanding that life is all about hard choices
is a very mature reality. Congratulation on your hard choice in the areas you mentioned and how you have benefited over the last year!

Thank you, Yvonne! 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
It is truly remarkable what you have done. You chose to live a different lifestyle, you lived your choices, and you didn’t give up. It’s very easy to say these words, but to go the distance through them likely was not easy. Bravo Stephanie! Long live sticktoitness!
I LOVE sticktoitness!Thank you DV! 🥰🥰🥰
