Piazza del Campidoglio
After climbing Capitoline Hill, we step foot onto its crown – Piazza del Campidoglio.
In the 16th century, Pope Paul III commissioned Michelangelo to design it, give it a facelift to impress Charles V, who was expected to visit Rome in 1538.

Walking behind the square we headed towards the Roman Forum and the Arch of Septimius Severus. In the distance is the bell tower of the Santa Francesca Romana church we visited earlier in the day. Next to that is a wee glimpse of the Colosseum.
