5 Principles of Reiki
Just for today, I will not worry
Just for today, I will not be angry
Just for today, I will do my work honestly
Just for today, I will be kind to all living things
Just for today, I will be grateful for my many blessings
Fear robs me of perspective.
When I am in fear I enter a state of fight, flight or freeze.
- Fight = angry, resentful, I’m right – you’re wrong, grudge-filled thoughts
- Flight = anxiety – can’t breathe – have to get away
- Freeze = numb, shut-down, dissociated, dulled senses, tired, lethargic, can’t think
My ability to emotionally regulate is a daunting task.
Gaining perspective when triggered in a strong fear response is exceptionally challenging.
I do not trust my own perception.
What is a real threat, what is not?
I have therapeutic, cognitive tools to navigate this fear.
But, when I’m in the fear response, these cognitive tools do not seem to work.
I guess baby steps and practice are the way.

️*** Update – February 9th, 2022 – I was diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) and Histrionic Personality Disorder (HPD). Typical Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) tools for BPD did not help. They were not effective in regulating my intense emotional responses to fear and abandonment. Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) would be.
