I am so grateful to be Canadian.
With the state of political affairs right now, I am relieved Mark Carney is our Prime Minister.
He gives me hope that Canada will continue to be…
the True North, strong and free

Sorry Aboot That, Eh!
I was born and live in Nova Scotia, Canada.
I lived overseas for a while. This opportunity opened my eyes to how wonderful Canadian citizens are and how fortunate I am to be a Canadian citizen.
When Michael and I repatriated back to Canada, besides the outdoor patio bars that lined the streets, I would hear sincere, “Sorry”, or “I’m sorry”.
Something truly unique to Canada.

Our national anthem says:
True patriot love in all of us command.
We are the True North, strong and free.
O, Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
We sure do. ❤️

We’re known for:
- being polite
- ice hockey
- maple syrup
- poutine
- butter tarts
- meat pie
- snow
- Tim Hortons coffee
- Bob & Doug McKenzie
- multiculturalism
- bar hopping in the winter wearing only a sexy dress and high heel shoes
This Nova Scotian fondly remembers Halifax’s wintery bar hopping scene.
Leaving Cheers on the corner of Argyle Street, while wearing nothing more than a sexy little dress and high heel shoes, we headed up the steep and snowy hill of Prince Street toward Brandy’s Café & Lounge.
I clung to my friend (also wearing a sexy little dress and high heel shoes) as we slipped in the slush and snow, laughing until it hurt til we made it to our next dancing destination.

I am proud to be a Canadian citizen.
We’re far from perfect.
However, it seems, at times, we don’t take ourselves too seriously,
I like that about us.
Sorry aboot that, ‘eh!

Canada really is awesome. I lived there for about 4-6 months and wanted to stay forever, but the job didn’t work out. Didn’t get to try poutine yet, but made something like it since.
I’m curious. What province were you in and what made it awesome? 🤩 Poutine is easy to make! Cook some french fries, pour gravy and cheese curds on top, bake in the oven. Voila! Poutine!
I was in Quebec and learning French, which I forgot already. Back then I was very vegetarian, almost vegan, and on a low budget, so I don’t think I even ate out once except at a fast-food place when I first arrived.
True, if you don’t use a language, you lose it. We were in Quebec and had a few adventures. People were great and so was the food! I hope you get to make poutine in a vegetarian way! We’re pescatarian – but sometimes enjoy a beef or chicken gravy on a poutine!
I’m not a vegetarian anymore, so I eat fries with chicken gravy, but I’ve yet to add the cheese curds.
Interesting post, well done
Thank you! 🌻😊
Yep! Ice and snow in heels and a dress! Canadian all the way
Add to that I work in a junior high school where, during the winter months, young Canadian teenage girls are preparing themselves to eventually wear dresses and heels in ice and snow by wearing Lululemon tights with UGG slippers or Crocs outside at lunch!
I was next to you in the little dress at the bar 😅 Maggie
🤩🙌🏻🥳😂
Absolutely would agree from even outside Canada!
