Over the years, I’ve met one infamous and a few famous people.
S, 🌻
Autumn of 1994 – I dated a popular co-owner of Mexicali Rosa’s. This trendy restaurant located on Spring Garden Rd in downtown Halifax. One weekend when the leaves where turning the vibrant colours of autumn, we spent it on his Harley Davidson touring the Western Shore of Nova Scotia.
Another couple joined us.
This couple was the president of the local chapter of the Hell’s Angels and his girlfriend, Jackie. He rode his custom made, single seater Harley Davidson with ape hanger handlebars. She followed, driving a Mazda sports car.
It wasn’t until last month of this year that I discovered his actual placement within the gang as president of the Halifax chapter. All these years since that weekend, I thought he was one of the members, not their leader. I had no idea of the power or who this man really was.
Any location, any room we entered over the weekend went quiet as we walked in. Especially the dining room of the inn we stayed at in Shelburne. The inn accommodated a majority of The Scarlet Letter film crew.
As we sat at a dining room table, the entire room was silent. All eyes on the man wearing the Hells Angels’ vest. It was the weirdest experience. I felt like I was in a movie instead of surrounded by its crew.
As we settled into out seats, film people started approaching the table to talk to Neil. He was a celebrity that evening.
I was oblivious to it all.
I didn’t have much interaction with him, as his girlfriend was a polar opposite to me. I was a joyful, outgoing party girl. She was biker-chick in every sense of the word.

Mid – 1990’s – While dating a cast member of CBC’s Street Cents, I partied with the inner circle of the future creator and actors of the cult TV series Trailer Park Boys.

Mid 1990’s – I asked Canadian – American actor Jason Priestly out on a date. He politely declined, with charm and a smile.

Mid 1990’s – Had a laugh on set with American actor Kelsey Grammer. I was sitting on a bench. He sat next to me and started up a conversation. I can’t remember what I said, but whatever it was made him laugh.

2013 – Met future Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau.

2014 – Took American singer/songwriter James Taylor kayaking.

2016 – During the 2016 Commercial Bank Qatar Masters, I had a selfie with South African pro golfer Ernie Els.

2016 – Walked with Sergio Garcia during the 2016 Commercial Bank Qatar Masters.

Wow you’ve had some cool celebrity encounters 🙂
Thanks! They’re fun moments in time that have a sparkle to them! ✨✨✨
