Michael’s Music – Live Right Now

Live Right Now

Live Right Now

Lyrics – Live Right Now

A sign of the times, another love past

Everything moving just a little fast

Nothing worth nothing and it don’t last

You hold your head and breathe

You live and you love for what you need

Everybody’s got a heart to bleed

Everybody’s got a soul to feed

And everybody dies

You’re here again, you need one good friend

Someone you can call every now and then

You need someone that’ll help you to comprehend

You need somebody real

Live right now with all you got

Live right now with what you got

Life right now it’s all you got

Live in here and now

One more day another one gone

Another one feeling that it won’t be long

Another one thinking that he don’t belong

It’s just one more day

Fire and soul on bended knee

On the highest mountain and the seven seas

But it’s all as temporary as a summer breeze

That’s all that you’ve got

You can live in fear with your sinner’s doubt

You can touch the autumn sky on a walkabout

You can moan and cry or you can sing and shout

Well what are you gonna do

Live right now with all you got

Live right now with what you got

Life right now it’s all you got

Live in here and now

Live right now with all you got

Live right now with what you got

Life right now it’s all you got

Live in here and now

Live Right Now

The title of this song pretty much sums up the message.

I wrote this one in 2011, during a particularly challenging time. Living in the moment can be a truly effective coping mechanism when life has thrown you a curve ball. Life is wonderful these days and in no small part because the message to live right now is always applicable. It may be easier to live in the moment when things are going well, but this doesn’t diminish its power to influence our state of mind through tough times.

The song sounds a lot more intricate and complex; more difficult to play, than it actually is. It’s in an open D tuning with a capo on the 2nd fret bringing it to open E. Open tunings lend themselves to chord voicings and even melodies that might otherwise be difficult or impossible to play with a conventionally tuned guitar.

If you’re a guitar player you might be interested in trying out a few of these great songs written in this tuning, and then coming up with one of your own:

  • Allman Brothers – Little Martha
  • Rolling Stones – Gimme Shelter
  • Rolling Stones – Prodigal Son
  • Joni Mitchell – Big Yellow Taxi
  • ZZ Top – Just Got Paid
  • Black Crowes – She Talks to Angels
  • Tragically Hip – Fiddlers Green

Enjoy… enjoy the song… enjoy the moment!!
