Terrorist Bombing of Metrojet Flight 9268
On October 31st, 2015, a Russian charter flight from Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt to St Petersburg, Russia crashed in the Sinai Desert shortly after take-off from the Sharm El-Sheikh International Airport. Investigators concluded that an explosive device concealed in a soft drink can was placed onboard at the Egyptian airport, killing all 217 passengers and seven crew members aboard.
In was concluded that this devastating tragedy was a terrorist bombing by Islamic State’s Sinai Branch.
Getting Ahead of Myself
We departed from Cairo on an Egyptair flight to take us to the renowned resort town of Sharm El-Sheikh located on the Sinai Peninsula. We were flying into the airport that only two months earlier ISSB (Islamic State’s Sinai Branch) planted a bomb on a departing flight headed for Russia, killing everyone on board.
As I write this blog, I think of and send heartfelt condolences to those who lost family and loved ones on Metrojet Flight 9268.

Travel is a lot of fun, and can be chaotic as well. Here is our silly energy as we prepare for our next adventure.
It is difficult to write that we were feeling silly in a blog that mentions Metrojet Flight 9268.
This silliness was one moment of many emotions during our flight to the Sinai Peninsula resort area, mostly a result of a few frustrating complications with Egyptair.

Vacant Sharm El-Sheikh International Airport
Arriving into this airport was understandably barren, with minimal staff and our flight populating the airport.
The taxi driver informed us how out of all the resorts along the Sinai Peninsula, only two were open because no one was vacationing here as a result of the recent ISSB bombing of Metrojet Flight 9268.
