I Wish Schools Taught Dialectical Behaviour Therapy

Daily writing prompt
What’s a thing you wish schools actually taught?

My job is support staff within Nova Scotia’s public school system.

I wish all schools introduced Dialectical Behaviour Therapy in the elementary grades.

Then, continued to teach and practice its four core modules: Mindfulness, Emotional Regulation, Distress Tolerance and Interpersonal Effectiveness up until graduation.

Imagine how much better the world would be if students practiced life skills such as compassion, to respond rather than react, be skillful during stressful situations, and communicate effectively, their entire school lives.

Wow! Would be amazing!
