My 2025 answer to this Daily Prompt question hasn’t changed.

The opening sentence to my autobiography would be:

I risked it all to blossom.

Jeez, I haven’t had enough coffee yet to conjure up an opening sentence to hook readers into the wild tapestry of my life story.

This famous quote by Anaïs Nin popped into my head so I’ll run with it.

Inspire by Anaïs, my opening sentence would be:

I risked it all to blossom.

Why? How?

See details below.

The Risk: Getting Married

I remember this exact moment on our wedding day.

I was about to walk towards the man I’d met online 10 months earlier.

I, we barely knew each other.

Yet, here I was giving up my entire life in Nova Scotia to relocate with him as expats in the Middle East.

This exact moment captured on film represents freedom.

This was my day.

My moment.

In this moment – I stood at the top of the stairs, looking down at guests, the wedding party and Michael, who were looking up at me.

I paused.

Took a deep breath and with a mix of so many emotions said aloud to everyone:

Oh My God I’m Getting Married!

This year Michael and I celebrate 10 years as husband and wife.

Together, we risked it all to blossom. ❤️
