What colledes have I attended?
In 1998/1999 – Canadian Career College – Addictions Counsellor
At that time, I didn’t have the confidence or maturity to succeed in this career.
In 2008/2009 – Maritime Business College – Veterinary Assistant.
Most veterinary clinics hired Vet Assistants as receptionists, not to help animals. Sitting behind a desk was a form of torture for me so I started looking for another type of career.
In 2010 I was hired as support staff for students with diverse needs within the public education system.
My skill sets included Counselling Skills Level I & II along with my own personal journey with mental health and addictions.
These qualifications landed me the job.
Almost 15 years later, I’m flourishing along this career path.

A wonderful career pathβ¦so rewarding! ππ»π
It truly is. And somedays it can be hard on the heart and head with students who struggle with regulating their emotions and behaviours. ππ»π
Yes, I used to teach young adults with special educational needs. Challenging at times, but also beautiful! π§‘π»π
π§‘π»π Did you retire or change careers?
I took early retirement so I could concentrate on my art work, rather than teach it. π§‘π»π
Nice! What piece are you working on now? π§‘π»π
