55 Rules For Love – Rule #41 – Do At Least One Romantic And Thoughtful Thing Every Day

Michael and I thought about examples in our every day life of how we are romantic with each other.

It took a bit of brainstorming – because, honestly – we’re conditioned to think of romantic things as those large, sweeping gestures one tends to watch in movies.

After a long week at work paired with a never-ending to-do list on the weekend, romantic gestures of the Hollywood scale are saved for weekend getaways – where hotel staff do the cleaning, cooking, and serve the meals; affording us the energy needed to spend a few hours enjoying massage oil.

Michael and I agreed a romantic thing, an intimate gesture each day can be as doable as sending “I LoveYou” Bitmoji text messages and snuggling before we fall asleep.

To be thoughtful is to be considerate of each other’s needs and values.

A few of Michael’s daily thoughtful things are: cleaning up after himself during the day so I don’t have to clean up after him when I arrive home from work, and after a stressful workday greeting me with a much needed supportive hug when I walk through the door.

A few of my daily thoughtful things are: bringing Michael his morning coffee in bed and having ready to eat healthy meals for him in the fridge when he takes a break during the day.

Spending a week in Paris as the season of spring brought a feeling of romance to an already romantic city, isn’t a great example of a small gesture of romance and thoughtfulness – but I include it here because writing this blog brings me back to a moment we shared in the Eiffel Tower.

We climbed the 674 steps* to the tower’s second level and shared a kiss!

Love is a verb. Love is action.

To do acts of romance and thoughtfulness each day requires mindfulness, and action.

The payoff is certainly worth it!

S, ❤️

Those thoughtful things are so important!

    1. 100% agreed! 🌻☀️🌻

  2. Love is like a fire—it doesn’t need grand explosions to stay warm. A small spark every day is enough. A kind word, a soft glance, a simple “I’m thinking of you” can keep the flame alive.

People think love fades with time, but maybe it just waits for attention. Like a plant, it doesn’t demand endless water, just regular care. Neglect it, and it wilts. Nurture it, and it grows strong.

Maybe the secret isn’t in big moments, but in the quiet, ordinary ones. A cup of coffee made with love. A silly joke shared before bed. A gentle touch when words aren’t needed. In the end, love isn’t about grand gestures—it’s about showing up, every single day.

    1. Your thoughts on love is so beautifully written. Thank you for sharing. 🌻💛☀️
