Need Some Yoda Wisdom
This rule requires some serious Jedi wisdom, as navigating each other’s family and friends can, at times, be challenging.

Everyone Has An Opinion
Yes, we do.
But are my opinions of my husband’s family and friends based on loving acceptance or from the lenses of my own issues I’m projecting onto them?
Mind you, there may be behaviours of some family or friends that do not align with my values. Hopefully, my husband will welcome the opportunity for input on how to navigate these challenging situations when they arise.
This isn’t an opportunity to unleash my frustrations with colourful character assassinations that creates ill-will.
This is an opportunity for peaceful, respectful solutions that deepens the connection between us.
Respect for my spouse’s feelings of his family and friends goes a long way.
Separate the Behavior From the Person
I’m addressing a behaviour – not the person as a whole.
Gently and compassionately identifying the behaviour of the family member or friend in question is a first step.
Using “I” statements, to communicate how my husband’s outdated dance with certain family and friends makes me feel, such as, “I feel really uncomfortable when….” or “I feel like my boundaries are being overstepped when..” is a softer approach, yet still may evoke defensiveness.
My husband may be defensive for reasons I’m probably already aware of but he isn’t willing to acknowledge, or perhaps he does acknowledge but doesn’t want to talk about it. Fair enough.
Focus on Yourself
It has been my experience if I’m struggling with someone, typically I’m triggered and can look within for a solution; or there is a clash in values, a difference in how we choose to live our lives.
Therefore, I only have control over myself, how I navigate it (hopefully with my husband’s support) and staying on my side of the street.
Be Kind
I hope, overall, that my opinions of my husband’s family and friends will be remembered as kindness.
Because, underneath every person is a struggle we know nothing about.
S, 💙

Stephanie, there is no greater truth in life than what you wrote as your last line in this blog…👵🏻💜🥰
💔 ” Underneath every person is a struggle we know nothing about”💔
There is something I read once that says….during meditation🙏
” Something’s we have no right to know, …
Go where you will…you will find this so”
Love the picture of You & Michael!💞
