Lesson Learned: Navigating Red Flag Co-Workers

Daily writing prompt
What’s a lesson you’ve learned recently that shifted your perspective?

A lesson I’ve learned recently that has shifted my perspective begins this September with the start of a new school year; it is about a safer, less naive, more grounded approach to navigating red-flag co-workers.

My perspective shift is about having “kind eyes”, but not engage.

To observe more.

Say less.

To be my positive, joyful self with students, while remaining a professional distance from red-flag adults.

As was advised to me this past school year during my turn in a series of meetings with a consultant from Human Resources and Union Rep, “I’m not paid to like everyone I work with.”

So be it.

Professional distance.

“Kind eyes”, but not engage.
