Depending on someone’s mental health, I think a little chaos can actually send someone over the edge or strengthen them.
I will start with the word Actually, within the question, “Is a little chaos actually good for us?”
Actually is an adverb.
It has three meanings:
- The real truth or fact of a situation
- Used to express a contradictory, unexpected opinion or to correct someone.
- To emphasize what someone has said or done.
Truthfully, growing up, I did not have life skills needed to navigate chaos.
I spent most of my emotional life dis-regulated to a little chaos – either shutting down, reacting bigger than the situation merited, or numbing with alcohol.
My mental health was a constant, painful struggle.
Many decades later, I was finally and properly diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) and Histrionic Personality Disorder (HPD).
To help with these mental health struggles, I’ve attended a 13-Week Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) group along with Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), while working a spiritual 12-Step program for my alcoholism.
With some sobriety under my belt, I currently have the ability to be skillful when chaos happens.
So, depending on someone’s mental health, I think a little chaos can actually send someone over the edge if they do not have the emotional capacity to navigate it or strengthen someone who can skillfully handle it.
S, 🌻

It depends on the chaos and the person. I love how you wrote this. I think I’m a bit conditioned to it due to my job and now retired with almost none seems odd.
Thank you. 😊 Congratulations on retirement!
