First Book That Changed My Life

Daily writing prompt
What’s the first book you ever finished and still remember to this day?

Back in the early 90’s I read Way of the Peaceful Warrior by Dan Millman.

I can’t remember why I chose that book. Why I bought it.

Perhaps for the title itself – to be a peaceful warrior.

Anywho, I was hooked from the start. This semi-autobiographical book introduced me to the concept of walking a spiritual path towards inner peace using the life-skill of mindfulness.

To stop my out-of-control monkey-mind that was either trapped in past mistakes or predicting future troubles, and live, peacefully in the present moment.

I still have this book. It has significant sentimental value for me.

It opened my eyes to a way of living I didn’t know was possible, yet so desperately wanted.
