I am living my ideal life, save one thing.
I have a loving husband and two rescue dogs and rescue cat.
We live in a rural community located along a large, mostly unpopulated lake.
We have 5 acres of undeveloped forested land with lake-frontage that is tucked into a secluded cove with its own natural beach.
A large creek runs along our entire property. It empties as a waterfall at our secluded water-front cove.
Michael has designed and is building our one-of-a-kind Geodesic Dome Home, where we create the type of spaces we love.
We will build interesting garden beds with lots of vegetables, berries and sunflowers!
We will build wooden walkway trails and benches throughout our acreage to offer moments of contemplative peace.
I will slowly develop a Reiki practice that will continue into my retirement as support staff in a high school.
Michael will settle back into playing music and wants to have a salt-water aquarium to grow coral.
I will continue with my hobbies of fresh water aquariums, plants and blogging.
What is missing here with us are horses.
We were going to have horses on our property, but cannot because the developer we bought the land from lied to us, so that dream of growing old with our own horses remains on hold for the time being.
I still get angry about that, but at this point the dome is taking all our money so we couldn’t have afforded horses, anyway.
As we settle into our retirement property, our history together includes expat living in the Middle East, with many exciting adventures as we travelled across three continents.
Michael and I continue to have a good life together. It’s not always easy as we are basically doing all the work on the property ourselves, but that is what makes this journey worth it.
