The biggest risk I’ve taken I do not regret was marrying my husband, Michael.
Why was marrying him a risk?
Because we really didn’t know each other.
I met him online in October, 2014. At that time, he was a Canadian expat working in Qatar. I was living in my hometown province of Nova Scotia, Canada.
Over the next 10 months we corresponded daily via Zoom, text message or email. Our in-person time together over those 10 months occurred when he traveled to Nova Scotia for Christmas Break, then I traveled to Qatar over March Break, and his return to Nova Scotia for summer break and our wedding on August 18, 2015.
A few days after our wedding, I moved to Qatar, joining Michael’s life as an expat in the Middle East.
After 4 adventurous, fun-filled years in Qatar, we repatriated back to Canada in 2019.
This summer we celebrate 11 years of marriage. ♥️
We’ve been through his daughter’s divorce, the death of his son and parents, my biological father’s death, as well as the death of our beloved dogs Pooh Bear and Marlow, and rescue cat, Bob.
We’ve had very challenging times as well as incredible experiences together. Our love, as well as the belief there is something very special between us, makes our marriage worth the work it takes to grow old and happy together.
