I’ve Outgrown Party Girl & Matured Into A Mindful, Joyful Woman

Is there an activity or hobby I’ve outgrown or lost interest in over time?

My body is aging, but my mind is still youthful.

Therefore:

I enjoy dancing, but the plantar fasciitis in my right foot does not.

I loved running, but my knees, hips and plantar fasciitis does not.

I love kayaking, but my knees and hips don’t like sitting in the cockpit for more than an hour.

Time is another consideration.

I enjoy crocheting, but I just can’t seen to find the time.

I enjoy cooking and baking healthy meals. But I struggle with the time to do so.

I love horses, but I just don’t have the time right now.

So, just like last years response to this Daily Prompt, I have lost interest and outgrown partying.

I’ve outgrown a party girl lifestyle.

This wild woman has settled into a peaceful, calm life – free of alcohol and any use of mild altering substances.

Today, this alcoholic enjoys sobriety while walking a spiritual path of Buddhist teachings.

I focus my energy on mindfulness, bringing this to the high school I work at where I support neurodivergent students.

Today is going to be my peaceful day.

This Joyful Alcoholic Has Lost Interest In Bar Hopping & Any Type Of Partying

I do not miss bar hopping and partying.

I wasn’t one to close out the bar, drinking until “last call for alcohol”.

I don’t like crowds and/or socializing at a party.

My main goal at a bar or a party was to drink fast, dance hard, and pick-up – the thrill of the hunt for that one night stand.

Generally speaking, I would last an hour – two at the most. Within this time, I would arrive, drink my face off, dance until all my energy was released then pick up a guy if I was in the mood or not then stagger home.

This was decades ago, back in the days when Halifax was a safe city.

I’ve had my share of wild, reckless adventures that are better left in the past, yet make for fun stories to share with my husband, who has had his share of wild, reckless adventures.

Today, I choose a sober, peaceful life filled with joy, laughter and love.

  1. Bar hopping is a young person’s sport. I’d still be okay at it, as long as we were done by 9 or 9:30 at night. Hard for us older folks to burn the midnight oil.

Same, sober is much better. When I see colleagues drinking their faces off, all I can think of is how miserable they will be later and tomorrow. I quit drinking when one glass of wine would give me a headache….
