Complain? What’s The Point – Today Is Going To Be My Peaceful Day

What do I complain about the most?

Nowadays, I realize there isn’t much point to it.

However, as it is -20 degrees Celsius out there right now, living in the RV while the dome is being built can get on my nerves. Yesterday the water lines were frozen, but I was able to fix it myself.

We’ve solved the fridge problem – we turn it off when its this cold – and it “works” just fine because of the sub zero temperatures.

So, I check my thinking.

I remind myself:

Today is going to be my peaceful day.

What Do I Complain About The Most?

I’m a naturally positive person. I tend to go with the flow. However…

Sometimes I complain about the politics of working in a government funded public school system with its outdated curriculum. How kids are pushed through the system resulting in not having to truly make an effort to succeed. Cassrooms are filled to capacity and support staff are grossly

There is nothing I can do to change this. The only thing I can do is change my reaction to it. So, I try to have fun at work with laughter and silliness with the kids.

Sometimes I am astonished and can’t believe the cost of living in Nova Scotia and the outrageous price of groceries.

There is nothing I can do to change this. The only thing I can do is grow a garden and produce as much of our own food as possible to cut down on the costs of groceries.

Sometimes the Post-Covid failing public health system in Nova Scotia with its lack of doctors, especially for seniors, and the overrun with unbelievable wait times for mental health and addictions services bothers me.

There is nothing I can do about that. It’s very scary, especially for those who truly need help.

Thankfully, we have a family doctor and so do my parents.

As well, I have a therapist through Community Mental Health and Addictions. I work very hard on my mental health diagnoses and alcoholism. Nothing changes, even if I do have support, if I am not willing to do the work.

Almost every day I inwardly complain about my struggles with weight gain as a result of menopause, anxiety meds and bad knees and hips.

I can do something about this, and I am!

I bought a new to me elliptical and once again am exercising every morning before work!

  1. What a wonderful post.

Sometimes there are things we can do, like your garden. Other times, not so much, but change how we react or view a situation. Even doing a little bit, is far better than sitting back, complaining and doing absolutely nothing. I know from experience, even doing just a little bit, can have a remarkable positive impact on our mental and emotional wellness.

    1. Exactly. Happy for you and your positive impact on doing just a little bit. Hope that makes sense! Just waking up and sipping my awesome and delicious morning coffee! ☕️☃️❄️

      1. Same here. Coffee early in the morning for me works similar to an AED. Gets the heart going. lol

      2. 😂😂☕️☕️ I’m AEDing my first cup right now!

    1. Thanks Hazel! We’re excited for this summer and building garden boxes, our next step in improving it! 🌻☀️💛

Yeah, all the best for your garden, Stephanie. I’m excited to see the progress, too. You’re always welcome.

Beautifully written! I don’t have any complaints against anyone because people are aware about their doing 😔

    1. Thank you. 🌻 You have a peaceful perspective. It’s refreshing. ☀️

  4. A lot has happened due to covid. Inflation is world wide and worsening even here in Greenland. The bullshit going on in my home country (usa) is a big causal of all this. In fact I think that my home country shouldn’t be head of all of the world! This isn’t a contest to see what country is better than the next or expanding it so we can be as large as china or russia. So yep I could rant on and on and on about all of this. Thank you for sharing your thoughts though. 😉 🙂

    1. Thank you for sharing. ❤️. The craziness that is happening seems surreal. Perhaps this will have an opposite effect and each country will come together to take a stand in solidarity against the unbelievable.
