Switzerland

Christmas Break of 2026, Michael and I rented a car to explore Switzerland.

Our adventure started in Geneva, then Beatenburg, Grindelwald, Interlaken, Zermatt, Kandersteg, and Campione d’Italia with two day trips into Milan, Italy. Next was Lavin, Guarda, an exciting drive through the Flüela Pass to Regensburg, Germany, a night in Contamine-Sarzin, France then the drive back to Geneva to fly home to Qatar.

This was one of our favourite adventures, with many memorable moments!

I might of been 9 or 10 years old when my mother took my cousin Shannon and I camping at Parlee Beach Provincial Park, New Brunswick.

We packed up her 1970’s Ford Pinto Sedan that hauled a small pop-out tent trailer and off we went from Nova Scotia to one of the finest beaches in North America.

Lots of moments happened on that trip.

Mostly to Shannon who was stung all over by a jellyfish, fell out of the side of the tent trailer while sleeping and was forever scalded by Kraft Dinner.

On our way home to Nova Scotia we almost ran out of gas.

Between my mother finding enough change at the bottom of her purse while Shannon and I searched the floor of the car, we finally found enough money for petrol needed to make it home.

However, the epic moment on this trip was during the drive to the gas station.

While driving on the highway, a man kept honking and beeping to get my mother’s attention.

When possible, he would pull up beside us frantically waving at her.

My mother refused to look at him. She thought this man was trying to hit on her in some way, instructing us to ignore him, too.

When we finally pulled in for gas, my mother discovered why this man was trying to get her attention – the trailer was not properly hitched to the car and was at serious risk of separating from it.

Never a dull moment on that trip!
