Navigating Nostalgia: From Dark To Light

nostalgia – a sentimental longing or wistful affection for a period in the past

I think about the woman I was, the woman I am now and the woman I want to be.

I think about the past a lot – to heal the painful parts – and finally be free of those chains – resulting in my ability to more clearly see its wonderful parts.

Therefore, nostalgia is about changing my lenses on how I once viewed my life from the woman I once was, to seeing it as the woman I want to be.

The Woman I Was Quote

2024

I am enjoying the slow process of editing and revising our travel blogs, as this brings back fun memories and forgotten moments.

Other than that, nostalgia can be a dangerous place to stay because I miss the life I’m in now.

As well, I feel the societal pressures to have a better, younger body – comparing myself to how my body once was when I could run, but now cannot with bad knees and hips.

I’ve been longing for the “good old days” when I was running 6 days a week and 20 pounds lighter.

This sense of nostalgia, or comparison is so self-destructive.

I feel stuck in this in-between place of physically what I once was, where I am now and how I want to be.

Stuck is the best way to describe it.

I need to let go of the fact I can no longer run.

Walking is the answer.

I just need to start.

I want to age gracefully, to be happy in my own skin, emotionally, spiritually and physically.
