For my 47th birthday, Michael bought new-to-me kiteboarding gear.

Flora’s Kiteboarding School

My kiteboarding journey began with Flora’s Kiteboarding School, an International Kiteboarding Organization (IKO) certified training school.

Lessons at Al Wakrah Beach

Beach location for lessons depended on wind direction.

Al Wakrah had side shore winds, safest for kiteboarding.

Starting off, I had to learn to control a training kite with specific techniques.

The Real Deal

Once I was able to control a training kite, I graduated to learning how to control a kiteboarding kite.

I’m attached to our instructor, Flora with a safety line in case I cannot control the kite and the kite takes me!

This lesson was more difficult with keeping my balance in the water while controlling a much larger kite.
