Cardo Maximus Cardo Maximus is the main north-south street of Gerasa, and was an integral part of Roman city planning. Built in the 1st Century CE, it is complete with manholes to underground drainage, water fountains, shops, an agora, and even street lights!   Water Fountain Our guide pointed at this broken carved stone indicating it was a water fountain.
